The Keithsburg Playground Committee has set the date for the 3rd annual Fall Festival Playground Fundraiser. It will host the festival on Oct. 3. Festivities kick off with a Color Run/Walk 5K at 10:30 a.m.

Step one of the new playground has been completed. The new playground equipment, at an approximate cost of $23,800.00, was assembled on July 25. Officials are crediting two years of successful fundraising, generous donations and community support the committee for this step being reached.

Moving on to step two includes more fundraising. Phase two description consist of a nice sidewalk, electrical work with lighting, and a new swing set, making the playground a safe environment for kids to play.

Many activities are planned for the all-day family festival. The 5K run/walk Color Run with sign up at 9 to 10:30, run/walk starting at 10:30. Register early at http// event #121518. A chili cook off noon to 3, trophies at 3:30 p.m. Car/Truck/Motorcycle Show with registration 11:30 a.m., show from noon to 3:30 p.m., trophies handed out at 4 p.m.. Bags Tournament sign up begins at 5:30 p.m. and starts at 6.
The festival will also host the popular bounce house and mechanical bull this year, as well as some new additions to the festival including the Myrna Rae Dancers 1 to 3 p.m., a cake walk at  3:30 p.m., Crazy Pete’s Gourmet Hot Dogs, snow cones and a silent auction noon to 6 p.m..

The playground committee has sold many donor bricks but is still selling more to help raise money for the Playground Equipment Fund. The bricks can include name, your company, or in memory of engraved on them by Lacky Monument and Sons in Galesburg.  The bricks are sold in two different sizes. Four-inch by 8-inch brick,  $50 (15 spaces per line, two lines maximum),  8-inch by 8-inch brick $100 (15 spaces per line, 3 lines maximum, plus logo or five lines) The bricks will be displayed in the park and viewed for many years to come.
