Advanced Medical Transport, after 12 years of serving the area, will no longer be the ambulance service for the Aledo, Greene, Joy and Seaton fire protection districts, effective Monday, Feb. 29.

The contract for the service was expiring and bids were received for the new contract. The bid was awarded to Genesis Health System. The contract is for three years.

According to J. Michael Sponsler, spokesman for the Ambulance Committee, "the fire districts are compelled by state statute in awarding the successful bid.

"Genesis has a well-established, reputable service and serves a large area," Sponsler said in a prepared statement. "The fire districts would like to thank AMT Ambulance for their past 12 years of excellent service and to the AMT employees, we truly appreciate your dedicated service."
