John Francis King, 79, of Bennet passed away at his home in rural Bennet early morning, Tuesday, October 31, 2017. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m., Friday, November 3, 2017 at Peace United Church of Christ in Bennett. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the services. Burial and graveside services will be held at the Inland Cemetery in rural Bennett with a lunch following. Military services will be conducted at the gravesite by Cedar County VFW Post #2537. John was born January 15, 1938, the son of George and Anna Mae (Inman) King in New Boston, Illinois.  He graduated from New Boston High School in 1956.  John went on to serve in the United State Army.  On January 5, 1964 he married Barbara Telsrow at the Peace United Church of Christ in Bennett.  They made their home in rural Bennett where John farmed and worked construction.   John and Barbara had three children, two sons, John Jr. and Michael, and a daughter, Loretta.

 

John is survived by his wife, Barbara; two sons, John King Jr. and Michael King; a daughter, Loretta Frana; three grandchildren, Stephanie King, Jared King and Brody King; and a sister, Cheryl Lane.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Katherine Briggs, Leona Willitts, Rose King, Annabelle Talbott and Mable Larson; and five brothers, Russel King, Harold King, James King, Robert King and George King Jr.
