LEWISTOWN-Hickory Ridge Concerts presents musician extraordinaire Ross Sermons in a tribute concert to one of America's great singer songwriters, Guy Clark, on Saturday, July 20 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the Dickson Mounds Museum. Guy Clark was one of the pioneers of the singer-songwriter movement of the 1970's and 80's writing songs that were covered by folks like Jerry Jeff Walker, Townes Van Zandt, Lyle Lovett and Ricky Skaggs to name just a few.
Guy's songs have a timeless, down to earth quality that have the ability to put you right into the story he's telling, be it raising Home Grown Tomatoes, getting your Heartbroke or dealing with the loss of a parent. His work inspired an entire generation of songwriters who took the craft of songwriting and treated it as an art form. The performance will include songs by Guy's well known compadres including Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, Lyle Lovett and many more. It will span his entire career and feature stories told by Guy and about Guy.
Ross followed his heart to Tasmania, Australia, in 2012, where he started Shark Point Studio and became the musical director for the Australian production of Always, Patsy Cline. Ross was the bass player on Hickory host Chris Vallillo's billboard charting CD Abraham Lincoln In Song in 2008.Ross Sermons has been in the music industry professionally since 1981, and is an in-demand bassist for recording sessions and touring work.
