Mary J. Parchert, 92, of Reynolds, died Saturday, September 21, 2019 at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island.  A graveside service will be 11 am Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Taylor Ridge.  Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 801 W. Edgington St., Reynolds.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Mary was born in Mercer County, Illinois on January 17, 1927, a daughter of Joseph B. and Evva Pullen McCormick.  She married Ralph K. Parchert on February 16, 1946 at Zion Lutheran Church, Taylor Ridge.  He preceded her in death on May 23, 1992.

Mary worked at Rockridge High School for several years as a cook in the cafeteria.  After that, she worked at Eagle Food Store’s main office in Milan where she retired in 1987.  Mary was an avid quilter and her family is blessed with many of her beautiful creations.  When she and Ralph retired, they spent winters in Brownsville, TX and loved traveling and playing golf.  Mary loved to bake, read, play dominoes with her monthly domino club and work in her yard.

Mary loved her family immensely and took great delight in all of their successes.  There are many wonderful memories that we’ve shared with her and amongst the family over the past few weeks.  We’ll have stories to tell for years to come.  Mary was a spirited lady who did most everything her way.  She showed her family a lot of respect, compassion and love and didn’t give up her health battle until she said it was time.  She had a lot of family and friends and was well loved.  She loved everyone back just as much and will be missed.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children (and spouses), Diana Balmer, Taylor Ridge, Daryl R. (Diana) Parchert, Taylor Ridge, Rich (Cindy) Parchert, Taylor Ridge and Brian (Carol) Parchert, Aledo; grandchildren, Michelle, Scott, Angela, Christopher, Austin, Erin, Lincoln, Nicholas and Nathan; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brother, Kenneth (Deanna) McCormick; sisters-in-law, Lois McCormick, Janet McCormick and Genevive Parchert; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings, Clarence McCormick, Everett McCormick, Lawrence McCormick, Verlea DeKeryl, Vella Hessman and Margaret Jaecques.
