ALEDO — The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the case of a 15-year-old boy who died after being the victim of a gunshot wound Wednesday, April 29.
The sheriff’s office was called at 4:39 p.m., leading deputies to begin an investigation into the circumstances.
The boy was transported to the University of Iowa Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The sheriff’s office was notified of his death on Thursday, April 30.
At the moment, the sheriff’s office says there is no evidence of any type of ongoing public safety risk or foul play, but investigation is continuing “with an open mind.”
