The Mercer County Retired Teachers Association will be accepting applications for its Scholarship Program, designed to support Mercer County students who are planning to enter the teaching profession. Multiples scholarships up to $1000 will be awarded to deserving applicants beginning in May 2021.


Eligible scholarship applicants include any graduating senior, living in Mercer County, who plans to enroll in a teacher education program at an accredited college or university, or any student who is currently enrolled, and in good standing, in a teacher education program at an accredited college or university, and who also has a home residence in Mercer County. Application forms are available from the high school counselors at all high schools whose district boundaries include Mercer County residents; i.e., Mercer County High School, Rockridge High School, Sherrard High School, Alwood High School, and United High School. Residency requirements will be strictly enforced. Applications are due no later than April 1st, 2021.


All applications will be reviewed by the MCRTA Scholarship Committee in April, with recommended recipients approved by the full membership. Recipients will be notified in May, and scholarship checks will be awarded at the June meeting of the organization.
