Members of Mercer County Sheriff's Search and Rescue conducted a fall training exercise in a wooded area of Greene Township near Viola, Illinois, on Saturday, Sept. 26. A total of 15 members participated in the training, which simulated a search for a missing person who was on the move in the woods. Members conduct training during the fall and winter each year to simulate experiences they encounter during callouts for missing persons or criminal evidence searches. The team had five horse-mounted team members, five ground searchers, two field vehicle team members and three administrative team members on the grounds for the search.
