George R. “Rusty” Wilson, age 70, of Table Grove, Illinois, died Saturday, February 2, 2019, 11:11 p.m. at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.
He was born August 29, 1948 in Canton, Illinois to George and Margie (Malott) Wilson. He married:     Mary Dennis on March 31, 1984 in Vermont, Illinois. She survives.
Surviving him are wife Mary Wilson of Table Grove, Illinois; daughter Peggy (and Brad) Eddington of Vermont, Illinois; son Johnny (and Denika) Dennis of Table Grove, Illinois; son Dusty (and Laura) Wilson of Austin, Texas; 11 grandchildren: Nichole (and Josh) Miller of Ipava, Illinois; Jonathan (and Ashley) Vance of Vermont, Illinois; Danny Vance of Freeburg, Illinois;
Aaron Eddington of Texas; Michael, Austin, MacKenzie and Ethan Dennis of Table Grove, Illinois; Abagail, Madison, and Andrew Wilson of Austin, Texas; four great-grandchildren: Katie and Keagan Miller of Ipava, Illinois; Hayden and Dexter Vance of Vermont, Illinois; and sister-Sandy (and Les) Belville of Princeville, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his infant son-Wayne Wilson.
He worked at R and M Service and Sales in Vermont, Illinois for 5 years, where he sold appliances and T.V.s and serviced what he sold.  He then worked at Graham Hospital for over 20 years as a bio-med technician.
He was a US Army veteran, serving from March 8, 1968 to March 5, 1971 in the 4th US Army.  He served in Vietnam from February 28, 1969 to May 27, 1969 where he was awarded the Purple Heart.  He received the Vietnam Service medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars.  He also received the National Defense Service medal and the Sharpshooter badge.
He was a member of the Vermont United Methodist Church and the Vermont Masonic Lodge #116, AF and a.m.. His hobbies included ham radio, fishing, and hunting. He loved to travel and go caving and camping with his family. Rusty loved his family and loved playing cards. He enjoyed each and every one of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.   
Services are 11 a.m. Friday, February 8, 2019 at Shawgo Memorial Home, Astoria, Illinois with Reverend Robert Green and Pastor Bennett Woods officiating.
Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 7, 2019 at the funeral home with Masonic Rites at 8 p.m. Interment is to be announced.
Memorials can be made to the Vermont United Methodist Church or the Table Grove Rescue Squad.
