Cory J. Barnett

Aledo - Cory J. Barnett, 36, of Aledo, Illinois died unexpectedly on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Genesis Medical Center, Aledo.

A memorial visitation will be held Monday, April 5th beginning at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Aledo followed by a celebration of life at 3:00 p.m. Social distancing and masks are encouraged within the church. Burial, with military rites, will be in Aledo Cemetery. Memorials may be left for the family (for his kids future education). Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo is handling arrangements.

Cory was born July 9, 1984 in Aledo the son of John and Sherry Rupe Barnett. He was a 2003 graduate of Aledo High School. On July 29, 2006 he married Linsey Haysbrook, together they had two children, Kaden, 14, and Savannah, 12.

On October 4, 2001 Cory joined the Army National Guard in the 2-123 Field Artillery Unit out of Milan, Illinois. Cory served in Iraq from 2004 – 2005 and Egypt from 2010 – 2011. He remained in the National Guard until his death as a CW2. Cory was employed as a Production Controller for FMS 19 in Milan.

Cory enjoyed following the weather, his animals, technology, and photography. He and Linsey could often be found taking walks around Aledo.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife: Linsey Barnett; children: Kaden and Savannah Barnett; father: John Barnett; brother: Shane Barnett; aunts: Lori (Lynne Bridgford) Rupe, Brenda Rupe, Sandy (Ron) Burnett and Stephanie (Steve) Johnson; his dogs: Raisin, Chip and Coco and cats: Cookie, Pumpkin and Basement Kitty.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, mother: Sherry and an aunt and an uncle.
