Robert L. Gauley

Aledo - Robert L. Gauley, 83, of Aledo, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021 at home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 801 W. Edgington St., Reynolds. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Face masks and social distancing are required. Burial will be in Preemption Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Viola Methodist Hall.

Robert was born on May 30, 1937, in Mercer County, a son of Robert and Hattie (Robinson) Gauley. He married Sandra Telsrow on October 27, 1984 in Preemption. Robert was a machine repairman for numerous years. He especially enjoyed fishing, farming, auctioning and playing bass with the Tune Sharks. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, enjoyed cowboy shooting and being a part of the Single Action Shooting Society. Even though Robert had many interests and hobbies, his greatest joy was spending quality time with his family.

Those left to cherish Robert's memory include his wife, Sandy; sons, James Gauley (fiancee Ali), Aledo, William (Deb) Gauley, Durango, IA and Robert (Pam) Gauley, Milan; grandkids, Mike (Sarah) Gauley, Epworth, IA, Matt (Rae) Gauley, Columbia, MO, Tom (Kadie) Gauley, Milan and Tammy (Eric) Benyak, Millersville, MD ; and several great-grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, infant son and brother, Clifford.
