Helen M. Dunn
Aledo - Helen M. Dunn, 94 of Aledo, died Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at her home. Funeral services will be Friday at 2:00 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Visitation is from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. Burial will be on Saturday at the Columbus City Cemetery, Columbus City, Iowa at 10:00 AM. Memorials may be made to the Mercer County Crisis Center or the Mercer County Athletic Boosters.
Helen Mae was born on February 7, 1927 in Middletown, Iowa to Walter & Isabele (Foster) Walker. She married Clifford Tisor on September 22, 1956 in New London, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1969. Helen and Robert Dunn were married on February 14, 1981 in Aledo, Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 26, 1998.
Helen was a secretary for Contel Telephone for many years. She was a member of the Sunbeam United Presbyterian Church, where she shared her talent on the Piano. She enjoyed her memberships in the Eastern Star and Chapter H, PEO. Helen also was named Jaycee Woman of the Year and was the Chairman of the American Cancer Society in Aledo for many years. Helen and Bob enjoyed traveling and particularly told stories of their honeymoon trip to Switzerland with the Seed Corn friends. They wintered in Sarasota Florida and had fun with their Sun and Fun Crew. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards with friends, gardening, taking her dog for walks, golfing and loved reminiscing about playing 6 on 6 basketball in Iowa in her youth. Helen was happiest being surrounded by family and friends.
Those left to cherish Helen's memory include her children: Steve Tisor of Manchester, MO; Tami Tisor of Aledo; Bob's children: Mark and Brenda Dunn; Carol & Brian Parchert and Cindy & Rick Leever; Grandchildren and their families: Trevon, Sara, Tatum, Haven & Raelynn Dunn; Alexa, Lucas, Kallen & Lainey Knox and Tanner & Lindsey Dunn; and honorary granddaughters, Kate and Taylor Engwall. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Clifford; second husband, Bob; brother, Tom Walker; grandson, Tyson Dunn and step-son, Mike Dunn.
