Delores "Dee" Hennenfent

New Windsor - Delores "Dee" Hennenfent, 86, of New Windsor, Illinois died Monday, July 12, 2021 at Clarissa Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 16th at Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo with visitation from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will follow visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m. at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Aledo. Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Viola. Memorials may be left for American Stroke Association.

Delores Pauline was born May 8, 1935 in Abingdon, Illinois to Delphard Iris and Maza Evelin Stegall Daly. Being orphaned at the age of 10, Dee was raised by her Aunt and Uncle – Alice and Leo Stegall. She attended Abingdon schools and Galesburg High School, graduating in 1953. She earned her cosmetology certificate from Carl Sandburg College. Dee was united in marriage to Joseph "Bud" Hennenfent on February 20, 1954. They were married for nearly 67 years when Bud passed away on February 16, 2021.

Dee's greatest joy was time spent with her family. She also kept busy with many hobbies, interest, and volunteer work. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing and attending card club. She was a devout member of St. John's Catholic Church, Viola. Dee volunteered her time and talents as a Girl Scout, Cub Scout and 4-H Leader as well as with PTA and PTA follies. She also served as Co-Director of the Miss Rodeo U.S.A. Pageant for 10 years and Director of Piper Hills Girl Scout Horse Camp for 20 years, where many lifelong friendships were a result.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her children: Chris Harrison, LeClaire, Iowa, Joseph (Brenda) Hennenfent, Gulf Breeze, Florida, Clinton (Jennifer) Hennenfent, Smithshire, Illinois, Regina (Dave) Descamps, Coal Valley, Illinois, Thomas Hennenfent, Winchester, California, Lee Ann (Mark) Baldwin, Aledo, Illinois and Stephen (Kathy) Hennenfent, Murrieta, California; 21 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild with one more lovingly expected. Also, her dear friends Michelle Naugle Cheng and Mary Sullivan, who were like daughters to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, aunt and uncle who raised her, brothers: Eugene and James, husband, grandsons: Robert Joseph Peer and Brad Murphy and two very special people who were very dear to her: Lyle and Fannie Hottel.
