Aledo - Christine M. Smith, 72, of Aledo, Illinois, died Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at UnityPoint Health Trinity in Rock Island. Visitation will be held Friday, July 23, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. A memorial service will directly follow at 5:00 PM. A reception will be at the Aledo Fire Station at 6:00 p.m. Private burial will be in the Greenmound Cemetery in Keithsburg. A memorial fund will be established by the family to benefit charities. She was born July 28, 1948 in Rock Island, Illinois to James and Mildred Link Benson. She graduated from Aledo High School in 1966. Chris married Rich Smith June 11, 1965 in Hamlet, IL. He died December 28, 2017.Chris retired from McKnight Pharmacy in Aledo. She loved her pets, music, reading, caring for others, traveling and attending her grandchildren's activities.

Survivors include one daughter, Jami (Tim) Hollinrake of Fayette, Iowa; one son, Rich (Jodi) Smith of Victoria, Minnesota; 5 grandchildren, Danielle, Jenni and Chase Hollinrake and Ty and Brady Smith; one brother, Jeff (Laurie) Benson of Aledo; sister-in-law, Marie Rapp of Big Sky, Montana; two nieces; two nephews; one great niece and one great nephew. Her parents and husband preceded her in death.
