Columbus Junction - Joan Mumey, 84, of Columbus Junction, passed away on Thursday August 19, 2021 at Wapello Specialty Care. Inurnment will be in Eliza Creek Cemetery at a later date. Wilma Joan Kelly was born on September 14, 1936 at home on the William and Katie Jordan farm, Letts, the daughter of Charles N. and Leota Mae (Jordan) Kelly. In 1942, Edward Sadel became her stepfather and raised her. On July 2, 1951, Joan was united in marriage to Ward Daniel Mumey in Washington, Iowa. Joan worked for Muscatine General Hospital, Mercer County Hospital and Thatcher's Plastics. Joan loved shopping, collecting antiques, going out to eat, roller skating in her younger years, baking, cooking, cats, horses and her grand dogs. Joan was sometimes known as a prankster.

Joan will be deeply missed by her children, Peggy (Randy) Griffin of Letts, Linda Mumey (Dennis Hiller) of Letts and Kenneth Mumey of Muscatine.

Joan was preceded in death by twin brothers; her parents; her step-father; her husband in 1994 and two sons, Harold and Jeff.
