Aledo - Shirley A. Drake, 89 of Aledo passed away Monday, August 23, 2021 at Mercer Manor in Aledo. Graveside services are 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 27, 2021 at Buffalo Prairie Cemetery. There is no visitation and memorials may be left to the Antioch Baptist Church and online condolences can be made at www.fippingerfuneralhome.com.

She was born February 28, 1932 in Floris, Iowa to Doy and Eulalia Wilkinson Swaim. She graduated from the Eldon Iowa High School and married Donald L. Drake September 17, 1950 in Eldon, Iowa. He died May 10, 2011.

Shirley was a homemaker and did housekeeping for many area families in the Quad Cities, Preemption and Aledo. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. Shirley enjoyed sewing, quilting, playing cards and the activities at Brookstone in Aledo.

Survivors include two daughters, Vicki Fosnacht of Viola, IL, Sheila Dhaemers of Sherrard, IL, three sons, Steve (Bonnie) Drake of Illinois City, IL, Doug (Julie) Drake of Aledo, IL, Monte (Sandy) Drake of Lynn Center, IL, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one sister, Linda Carter of Crown Point, Indiana; nieces and nephews.

Her parents, husband, sister, Phyllis Knox, one grandchild and one great grandchild preceded her in death.
