Aledo - Betty L. Pence, 88, of Aledo, formerly of Keithsburg, IL died Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Genesis Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa. Services are 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at the First Christian Church in Keithsburg. Burial will be at the Greenmound Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo where memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice. Betty was born November 30, 1932 in Santa Rosa, Missouri to Bud and Lucille Shaw Askew. She graduated from Keithsburg High School. Betty married Forrest "Sonny" Pence Aug. 7, 1953, in New Boston. He died July 22, 2001.
She was a homemaker being home to bake, cook and take care of her family. Betty was always ready to step up and help anyone in need throughout the community.
Betty was an active member and volunteer at the First Christian Church in Keithsburg. She enjoyed being with her family and attending their activities. Family was very important to her.
Survivors include three daughters: Janet (Ron) Bieri; Donna (Bob) Coulter, all of Aledo; Tracy Colbert of Clinton, Utah; nine grandchildren: Jason (Lindsey) King; Brian King; Stacey (Matt) Marston; Larry (Wendy) King; Paula (Travis) Riddell; Amber (Mike) Roberts; Megan Salmon; Randi Colbert and Harley Pence; 17 great-grandchildren: Ethan (Anna), Addison, Ella, Gavin, Kellan, Tyler, Blaine, Lucas, Riley, Austin (Giulia), Lauren, Christy, Sunny, Bobbi, Emma (Brandon), Trenton, Zaiden; one great great granddaughter, Aleah; sister: Gayle Pullen of Monmouth; several special nieces and nephews; special friend and caretaker, Brenda Wagner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers: George, Jerry, Dale and Jim; two sisters: Leitha and Nancy.
