Janet M. Williams

Aledo - Janet M. (Johnson) Williams, 97, of Aledo, IL, formerly of Alexis, IL passed away at 6:50 a.m., Friday, January 14, 2022 at Mercer Manor, Aledo, IL. She was born on April 11, 1924 in Galesburg, IL the daughter of Oscar William and Sarah Elenora (Lindberg) Johnson. She was raised and educated in Alexis graduating from Alexis High School in 1942. Janet married Herbert Alvin Williams on November 10, 1946 and they later divorced. She was a bookkeeper for the Alexis Feed Mill before retiring. She was a member of the Alexis United Presbyterian Church for several years. She later moved to Aledo and joined the College Avenue Presbyterian Church. Janet enjoyed playing the organ for both the Alexis and Aledo churches. She served on many committees within the church and was also a part of the Mercer County Hospital Auxiliary. Surviving Janet is one son, Rodney (Rita) Williams of North Henderson, IL; two grandsons, Cory Williams of Arlington Heights, IL and Chad Williams of North Henderson, IL; and one great-granddaughter, Sydney Williams of Clearfield, UT; two sisters-in-law, Eunice Burdick of Tuscan, AZ, Erma (Tom) Waight of Sherman, AR; several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, former husband; one son, Raymond Williams; one brother, Willard Johnson; three sisters, Winifred Dodge, Florence Anderson, Irene Rosene and one granddaughter, Christine Williams. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family graveside services will be held at the Alexis Cemetery, Alexis, IL. No visitation hours are planned. Memorials may be given to the Alexis/North Henderson Ambulance Service. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth is in charge of the arrangements.
