Donald D. Myers

Aledo - Donald D. Myers, 79, of Aledo, IL passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Genesis Medical Center in Silvis. Graveside services are 11 a.m. Monday, February 14, 2022 in the Aledo Cemetery where military rites will be conducted. Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. "Donnie", as he was known, was born November 28, 1942 in Biggsville, IL to Albert and Ruby Combites Myers. He attended the local schools. On October 21, 1961, he married Barbara Whitenack in New Windsor, IL.

Donnie was a U.S. Army Reserves veteran, serving from 1960-1967.

Known for his repair and restoration skills, Donnie was a wealth of knowledge when it came to John Deere equipment. He worked as a mechanic at the former Thede's John Deere dealership in Aledo for many years and retired from John Deere Davenport Works. Donnie enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

Donnie proudly served as a 20-year member of the Aledo Fire Department and was a lifetime member of the AMVETS, Knoxville Chapter.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years; two daughters, Dawn (Gary) Wexell of Sycamore, IL; Diana (Rick) Eggen of Aledo; one son, Tony (Pam) Myers of Aledo; four grandchildren, Amanda (Ben) Miller, Brandi and Megan Myers and Daniel Eggen; two great-grandchildren, Ceola and Townsend Miller; three sisters, Evelyn Link of Oquawka, IL; Mary Lou (Delbert) Dillon of Jacksonville, Arkansas; Jeannie (Bill) Leonard of Biggsville, IL; one brother, Jimmy (Pauline) Myers of Burlington, Iowa; several nieces and nephews.

His parents and three brothers, Ora, Roy and Allen Lee preceded him in death.
