Donna Mae (Munson) Tipton
Grand Ridge - Donna Mae (Munson) Tipton of Grand Ridge, Illinois, formerly of Wedron, Illinois passed away on March 3, 2022. She was born on March 1, 1936, to Edgar and Elsie Munson in Viola, Illinois. Donna was married to Clarence Reed (Tip) Tipton, Jr., until his death in 2009 after a battle with cancer. They were together for over 50 years. They loved to dance and enjoyed over 20 years at their summer cabin in Canada.
Donna was a devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, granddaughter, and friend. She generously took into her home, her grandparents, friends of her children, and family members. Her door was always open to those in need.
Donna volunteered at her children's schools, chairing committees, coordinating fundraisers, sewing costumes, and preparing food for multiple events. She was also famous for her family dinners and parties.
Donna loved the challenge of the daily crossword puzzle in the newspaper, creating a dictionary of frequently used words in the process. She was known to assist in the delivery of pigs. It was not uncommon for some bottle babies to be fed on the kitchen floor. As a result, she gained the nickname of "The Pig Lady," and a collection of pig figurines followed.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Reed (Tip) Tipton, Jr.; her eldest son, Mitchel (Mike) Tipton; her sister, Virginia (Ginger) Lafferty; and her parents, Edgar Munson and Elsie (MeMe) Lee Munson.
Those mourning her loss are her three surviving children: Tangilla (Tangie) Tipton, Troy (Barb Hoxsey) Tipton, and Heather (Tipton) Sinclair, (Curt Sinclair); her four grandchildren: Trevor Tipton, Edgar (Gar) Tipton, Hannah (Sinclair) Williams, (David Williams), and Shane Sinclair; her sister: Janice (Shorti) Crow, (David Crow); and her many nieces and nephews who thought the world of her.
There will be a private "Celebration of Life" and burial at a later date.
The Grand Ridge Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
