William R. Pinger, 96, of Keithsburg, Illinois died Monday, May 9, 2022 at ProMedica Nursing and Rehab in Galesburg, Illinois.
Per his wishes, there are no services and cremation has been accorded. Private interment, with military rites, will be held at a later date in Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg. Memorials may be made to Keithsburg Fire Department and directed to the family. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo assisted the family.
William was born March 27, 1926 in Keithsburg, Illinois the son of John and Justine Lucas Pinger. From 1945-1946, Bill served as a Sergeant in the United States Army stationed in Hawaii. He married V. JoAnn Kaufman on May 10, 1947 in Aledo. They were married until her passing on July 12, 2008. Together they owned and operated Pinger’s Food Center in Keithsburg from 1949-1992. In his free-time, Bill enjoyed golfing.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son: William M. (Donna) Pinger of Keithsburg; grandchildren: William A. (Tiffany) Pinger and Sarah (James) Ogle; and great grandchildren: William “Tucker” Pinger and Sammie Watkins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings: Justine, Jerome, Virgil, and Benny.
