Leo A. Toby, 90, of New Boston, Illinois died Thursday, May 12, 2022 at home, surrounded by family.

On Monday, May 16th, recitation of the rosary will begin at 4:30 p.m. followed by visitation from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, May 17th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Aledo. The Funeral Mass will be live-streamed on the Dennison Funeral Homes Facebook page. Burial will be in New Boston Cemetery. Memorials may be left for St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation, or American Heart Association.

Leo Alfred was born November 30, 1931 in New Boston, Illinois, the son of William and Hettia Krause Toby. He graduated from New Boston High School in 1949. On June 23, 1951, he married Arline Matthews at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rock Island. Leo farmed his entire life in the New Boston area; he loved raising his family and living on the farm. His greatest joy was time spent with family. Leo and Arline were avid square dancers, dancing together for over 50 years. They also enjoyed wintering in Florida for many years. Leo enjoyed throwing horseshoes, gardening, hunting, and fishing. He was a member of Mercer County Farm Bureau and St. Catherine’s Catholic Church.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 71 years: Arline; children: Karen (Steve) Dellitt, Patricia Schrock (Gary Leonhart), and David Toby (Tanya Irick); grandchildren: Tammy Bennett, Jeremy Lemon, Tonia Woodward, Tiffany Shivers, Joseph Toby, Jeff Schrock, and Derrick Toby as well as 15 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, biological mother: Margaret Davison, grandson: Jonathon Schrock, and sister-in-law: Patricia Tullius.
