Georgia A. Rader, 95, of Aledo, Illinois passed away Thursday June 30, 2022, at Unity Point/Trinity in Rock Island, Il. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday July 6, 2022, at the Aledo cemetery. Visitation is from 5-7 PM Tuesday at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo where Mercer County VFW Auxiliary Post 1571 will conduct rites at 7:00 PM. Memorials may be left to the Joy United Methodist Church or the Mercer County VFW Auxiliary Post 1571.
Georgia was born October 30, 1926, in Peoria, IL to George and Vera Algren Staley. She graduated from Aledo High School and attended Bradley University. On February 20, 1946, she married Robert L. Rader in Aledo. He died June 3, 2006
Prior to her marriage, Georgia worked as a telephone operator in Aledo. In 1954 they moved to New Boston where she loved working beside her husband on the farm. She also worked briefly at the Westmer High school as a librarian, and they returned to Aledo after retiring.
She was an active member of the Joy United Methodist Church and the Mercer County VFW Auxiliary Post 1571. She was also a member of the William Dennison Chapter of the DAR.
Georgia was very active in her children’s lives helping with school activities, 4-H. sporting events, band, choir and PTA. She enjoyed visiting with her friends, camping, bowling, playing cards and being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter Diana Rader of Aledo, IL, a son-in-law, Sam Spring Jr. of Rockford, IL, four grandchildren Stephanie Baney of Winnebago, IL, Dustin Retherford, Joy, Il, Samantha White of Mt. Morris, IL, Nikolas Spring of Winnebago, IL, fifteen great grandchildren
Her parents, husband Robert, one son, David and one daughter Delores preceded her in death.
