Doris L. (Cox) Kennedy, 103, of Milan passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, July 8th at Beulah Presbyterian Church, 9221 148th Ave, Orion. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am Friday at the church. Burial will be in Buffalo Prairie Cemetery. Memorials may be made in care of Beulah Presbyterian Church, Orion or the Buffalo Prairie Cemetery Association.
Doris was born on Armistice Day, November 11, 1918, in Eliza Township, Mercer County, IL, a daughter of Joseph and Mollie (Monson) Cox. She married Merle E. Kennedy on October 1, 1941 and they farmed in Eliza Township and Rural Township until his passing in 1980. Doris retired from H.J. Heinz in Muscatine.
In retirement, she liked to travel across the country and to Europe with her friends from H.J. Heinz and the Plus 60 Club of the Quad Cities.
Doris was a member of Beulah Presbyterian Church in Orion where she served as a Deacon for many years.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Delores (Lowell) Hauger, Milan, Bob (DeeDee) Kennedy, Des Moines, IA, and Bonnie (Dennis) Green, Schaumburg, IL; grandchildren, Gary (Susan) Hauger, Sharon (Chris) Jacob, Carl (Amanda) Hauger, Darren (Jennifer) Kennedy, Trinita (Andrew) Jennings, and Ray Green; and great-grandchildren, Brian, Kevin, Dayton, and Savanah Hauger, and Teddy Jennings.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Ralph (Elda), Fred (Irene), and Charles (MaryAnna); sisters, Helen Cox, Gladys (Leroy) Sohn, and Vera (John) Powell; and infant sister, Eleanor.
The family would like to thank the Genesis Home Care team, Hospice and the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House for their wonderful care of Doris.
