Phyllis K. Mizner, 83, of Aledo, Illinois passed away at home on Thursday, August 11, 2022 surrounded by her family.
Funeral services are at First Baptist Church, Aledo, 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 18th, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Memorials may be left for Mercer County V.F.W. Post 1571 or Mercer County V.F.W. Auxiliary. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo is handling arrangements.
Phyllis Kathleen McBride was born May 8, 1939 in Joy, Illinois to Alfred Lester and Ruby Reynolds McBride. She married James Mizner on March 2, 1954 in Aledo. Together they raised their three children, Deborah Mizner, Kevin (Susan) Mizner, and Tamara Mizner.
Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. If you ask anyone of her family members, they will tell you she was the world’s best cook. She always said if you leave her house hungry, it wasn’t her fault. Her family knew grandma’s cookie jar was always full.
She was a hairdresser for many years. Phyllis was also employed at the Mercer County Nursing Home and Mercer County Hospital. Phyllis was a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary where she served as past president and also served as a past 8th District president.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband: Jim; children: Deborah, Kevin (Susan), and Tamara; grandchildren: Shelley (Jason) Potter, Travis Boswell, Brittny (Logan) Lease, Chad (Sharon) Scott, and Karen (Ritch) Stirn; great grandchildren: Austin (Courtney) Skiles, Bryce (Alexis) Skiles, Carli (Caleb) King, Carter Lease, Elijah and Jeremiah Boswell, Drake (Lexi), Kayla, Sydney, and Kale Stirn, and Trisha and Lincoln Scott; great great grandchildren: Aubree and Molly Inness, Brody Skiles, and Gentry and Koe Skiles; sisters: Darlene Johnson, Doris Chadwick, and Nancy Fowler; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers: Earl McBride, Gerald McBride, Carroll McBride, and Rolland McBride and grandson: Shannon Boswell.
