Michael E. “Cowboy” Grissom, 69, of Aledo, passed away Wednesday August 31, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Memorial visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 pm Friday September 9, 2022 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan, with Western wear encouraged. A gathering celebrating Cowboy’s life will be held starting at 1:00 pm Sunday at Cheer’s on Main Street, Aledo. Private inurnment will be in Preemption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rainbow Riders of Monmouth and Samaritan’s Purse.

Michael was born on April 25, 1953 in Bemidji, Minnesota, the son of LaVerne Robert and Jacquelyn Anne (Hasselroth) Grissom. He married Beverly (Brouhard) Grissom on November 20, 1971. She preceded him in death.

Cowboy started his career as a plumber on June 11, 1973 with Ragan Mechanical, Davenport and was employed there for 35 years, retiring on April 30, 2008. He was a member of the Rock River Rangers, Little York Frontloaders and NRA. Mike was a long time hunter safety instructor. He enjoyed hunting, shooting (especially black powder rifles), attending rendezvous, his horses over the years and Old Style.

Survivors include his children, Paul Michael (Ginger) Grissom, Milan, Jessica Anne Grissom, Little York; fiancé, Diana Bellinger Rupe; granddaughter, Skyler Cheyenne Grissom; sister, Tonia (Dan) Doy, Alpha.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; and parents, LaVerne and Jackie.
