Mark M. Kimball, 66, of Aledo, IL passed away Monday, September 26, 2022 at 4:46 p.m. at home surrounded by his loving family. Mass of Christian Burial is 12:00 p.m. noon Thursday, September 29, 2022 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Aledo. Burial will be in the Aledo Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m. Thursday at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo and visitation will follow from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Thursday at Fippinger’s. Memorials may be made to St. Mary Magdalene Parish or Furever Friends. Online condolences can be made at www.fippingerfuneralhome.com.
He was born August 26, 1956 in Danville, Illinois. Mark was lovingly raised with his twin sister, Mary, by James and Irene Brown Kimball. He graduated from Aledo High School and attended Blackhawk College. Mark married Elizabeth Willits September 29, 1984 in Bettendorf, Iowa.
Mark was employed at Alcoa for many years, retiring August 1, 2022. He assisted his parents in the operation of Kimball Cleaners until its closing.
He was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. Mark enjoyed attending car shows where he loved to exhibit and won many awards for his 1970 Dodge Challenger 440-6 Pack. Mark enjoyed refinishing and caning furniture and was an avid antique collector. He loved cats and dogs and was a frequent visitor at the animal shelters.
When Mark was young, he participated in soapbox derby, a hobby that he continued with his family for many years, racing throughout the country.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; two children, Alicia Kimball and her husband, Matt Osting of West Dundee, IL; James Kimball of Chicago; one granddaughter, Lillian Kimball Osting; twin sister, Mary (Cecil) Thorndike of Warsaw, IN; several nieces and nephews, including Jessica (Zach) Barrett of Carmel, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
