Martha J. Nielsen, 88, of Aledo, Illinois died Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at home.
Visitation will be at Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo on Saturday, October 22nd from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., then proceed to Buffalo Prairie Cemetery for an 11:30 a.m. graveside service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be left for Mercer County Quilters Club.
Martha Jean was born May 15, 1934 in Duncan Township, Illinois the daughter of Floyd and Veneta Braucht Mayhew. On February 14, 1959 she married Eugene Nielsen in Buffalo Prairie. Martha and Eugene lived in San Gabriel, California for many years, with Martha returning in 2002 to live in Aledo. While in California, Martha worked for United Airlines and Mountain View Mortuary. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star and the Mercer County Quilters Club. Martha was a talented quilter, avid doll collector, and enjoyed genealogy.
Those left to cherish her memory are her great nephew: John Dale Mayhew of Reynolds; sister-in-law: Leora Mayhew of Aledo; as well as several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother: John B. Mayhew, and nephew: Jaycee Mayhew.
