Laurie J. Etter

Laurie J. Etter, 70 of Aledo, IL, died Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Mercer Manor in Aledo. Cremation has been accorded. Services are 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2022 at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Private burial will be at a later date in the Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at Fippinger’s where memorials may be left to the Mercer County Animal Shelter or the Mercer County VFW Post 1571 Auxiliary. She was born December 27, 1951 in Joliet, IL to Thomas and Agnes Thom Reay. She graduated from Aledo High School in 1970. Laurie married David B. Etter November 29, 1985 in Aledo.

Laurie worked at the McCaw Furniture Store in Aledo during high school and was later employed at FS and Thede’s in Aledo. She retired in 2013 as Deputy Circuit Clerk at the Mercer County Courthouse in Aledo where she worked for 31 years.

Her memberships included the Aledo United Methodist Church and the Mercer County VFW Post 1571 Auxiliary.

Laurie enjoyed canning, antiques, refinishing furniture, birdwatching and especially attending her grandchildren’s activities and cattle shows.

She is survived by her husband, David; one daughter, Teri (Steve) Beckman of Danville, Iowa; two stepchildren, Jon Etter of Aledo, IL; Angela Etter of Davenport, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Bailey (Reece), Lauren, Carlea, Garrett, Ethan, Taylor and Lex; two sisters, Debbie Wolanski of Augusta, Missouri; Barb (Dennis) Cooper of Orion, IL; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
