Carol J. Erickson, 89, of Taylor Ridge, died Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa. A private family funeral will take place at the Reynolds United Methodist Church, Reynolds, Illinois. Burial will be in the Reynolds Cemetery. Memorials may be made in care of Reynolds United Methodist Church or the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Reynolds, is assisting the family.
Carol was born in Moline, Illinois on December 25, 1933, a daughter of Thomas Eugene and Blanche Woolley Hutchinson. She was a graduate of Sherrard High School. Carol married M. Wayne Erickson on February 5, 1956 in Milan. He just recently preceded her in death on February 23, 2023.
Carol worked for Bituminous Insurance Company as well as Bendix Aviation early in her career. Once she started a family, she worked alongside of Wayne on the farm and raised her children.
Carol was a member of the Reynolds United Methodist Church where she was extremely active for many years. In earlier years, she was active in 4H club and enjoyed riding horses. Carol also enjoyed playing golf, painting, fishing and traveling. She loved spending time with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Mary Sue (Mike) Kitchell and David (Tammy) Erickson, both of Milan; grandchildren, Haley (Ian) MacDonald, Hamlet, Nicholas (Kelsey) Erickson, Milan and Bradley (Sarah) Erickson, Milan; and great-grandchildren, Norah, Charlie, Warren, Audrey, Grant and Ruth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, Scott Edward Erickson and siblings, Orville and Sam Hutchinson and Sarah Bowman.
