Nancy L. Sloan, 81 of Aledo, Illinois died Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Unity Point-Trinity in Bettendorf, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2020 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Aledo. Burial is in the Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2020 at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo where a rosary will be recited at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be send to the Mercer County TRIAD or the Mercer County YMCA. Social distancing requirements will be required and online condolences may be left at www.fippingerfuneralhome.com.
Nancy was born January 25, 1939 in Chicago, IL to George and Lucille Biggy Stirn. She graduated from St. Gregory Catholic High School in Chicago. Nancy married Arthur L. Sloan August 9, 1958 in Aledo. He died June 23, 2003.
Nancy was a homemaker and former home health care worker. She was employed by the Mercer County YMCA as an aqua instructor and was a former babysitter, known to many Y kids as “Grandma Nancy”.
Nancy was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church and the Mercer County YMCA. She enjoyed playing dominoes, gardening and especially being with her family and YMCA family.
Survivors include: four daughters: Elizabeth (Eugene) Ray of York, Neb.; LuAnn (John) Burroughs of Murchison, Texas; Terry (Ernie) Dillie of Joy, Ill.; Tammy (Rick) Wood of Aurora, Colo.; two sons: Bill (Lisa) Sloan of Edgington, Ill.; Tim (Christine) Sloan of Bossier City, La.; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers: George (Carol) Stirn of Huntley, Ill.; Phillip Stirn of Texas; one half-brother: Jim Stirn of Illinois; several nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother: Jack Stirn; one grandchild: Johnathan Wood and one half-sister: Kathy Paul.
