Tuesday, March 24 Aledo Main Street (AMS) is hosting a Farmers market pre-meeting at the Aledo Fire Station at 7 p.m.

Pam Myers, AMS executive director said the market will be named Aledo Main Street Farmer's Market. The market will be set up in the street on the 100 block of East Main Street between College Avenue and NE 2nd Street and is slated to be held on Thursdays, starting June 11, from 4-7 p.m. through Oct. 22, 2009, pending Aledo City Council approval.

“This is an informational meeting for any interested vendors,” said Myers, “regarding setup, rules and regulations, application process and fees.”

She said that vendors interested in setting up stands are encouraged to attend this meeting. “We’re looking for produce sales, bake sales, crafters, landscapers, just anyone local within a 50-mile radius.”

She said there has been a good number of individuals who say they are interested in displaying their wares at the farmer's market. “We will be sending out letters, but just in case we don’t have your information, you’re encouraged to attend,” she said.

Many of the merchants in the downtown area have also agreed to support the Aledo Main Street Farmer's Market by keeping their stores open during the market hours. "This should be a win-win situation for the market, the businesses and the shoppers," said Myers.
