Taylor takes home two Silver Domes
WRMJ News and Sports Director Jim Taylor was honored by the Illinois Broadcasters Association Wednesday night, June 17, in East Peoria. Taylor was presented a Silver Dome Award, winning "Best Sportscaster" in the small market radio category. He was recognized for his work in covering high school sports through the "WRMJ Sportsline" program; "The High School Sports Spotlight"; and play-by-play of local schools.
"What's so special about winning a Silver Dome Award is that the award is judged by unbiased out-of-state broadcasters who have only one objective in mind and that is to single out the very best in each and every category," said Dennis Lyle, president and CEO of the Illinois Broadcasters Association. "Quite simply, it means the winner is at the top of their game and the very best in the state."
Taylor, a graduate of Alleman High School, lives in Aledo with his wife, Nikki, and their three children.
"I'm grateful for the recognition and appreciate the great cooperation we get from our local schools like Sherrard and Rockridge," Taylor said. "It makes my job a whole lot easier and very enjoyable."
Taylor also won an IBA Silver Dome Award on Wednesday night for "Best Local Newscast" for his work on WRMJ's "Western Illinois Today News."
