Ground Breaking Oct. 11 for Villas at Carl Sandburg

Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 3 p.m. The Villas at Carl Sandburg, LLC and Midwest Bank of 

Western Illinois will break ground at 3282 N. Henderson St., Galesburg, the new location for the 

Villas at Carl Sandburg. The Villas are a private development consisting 144 beds designed with Carl 

Sandburg College students in mind. The Villas will consist of student-centric living quarters with 

common indoor and outdoor amenities. The common indoor area will consist of the manager’s 

office, mailboxes, social room / recreation center, and a 24-hour fitness center along with study 

rooms and state-of-the-art laundry facilities. The outdoor common area will consist of a patio for 

social and recreational use, along with a variety of outdoor entertainment amenities. Additional 

services include free tanning for all residents, full-service laundry, shipping and receiving, and 24-

hour maintenance. The Villas will be built on privately owned land in close proximity to campus.

regional developer and the City of Galesburg, while supporting the efforts and needs of Sandburg

Oxbow Development’s Student Housing Division of Bettendorf, Iowa, specializes in amenity rich 

apartment complexes for small colleges and universities. “Oxbow will be directly involved with the 

construction progress and has a detailed marketing and leasing campaign underway. Construction is 

planned to be completed mid-summer and is slated to be ready for students to move in for the fall 

2012 school year,” said Tim Baldwin, Managing Partner of Oxbow Development.

Western Illinois, Seminary Street Banking Center, 2558 N. Seminary St., Galesburg, in the
