Carl Sandburg College has received the Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) through the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) for excellence in the preparation and issuance of its 2011-2012 annual budget. This marks the ninth year the College has received this recognition.

The overall summary from the ASBO Review Team stated the following about the College’s submission: “This budget document contains considerable amounts of data both in narrative and graphic form and represents a commendable effort in pursuit of the MBA. The use of charts and graphs and illustrations within each section was professionally presented. This budget contains a lot of valuable information for the average stakeholder and was easy to follow; logically presented; and technically well prepared. The college and its staff should be commended on a quality presentation of this budget experience.”

“We are pleased to have been recognized for preparing a budget that informs all interested parties of our financial status and goals,” said Lisa Blake, chief financial officer and treasurer at Sandburg. The Meritorious Budget Award is only conferred on school systems that have met or exceeded the Meritorious Budget Award program criteria.
