The Mercer County 4-H Federation is hosting a two-day woodworking workshop to teach 4-H members basic carpentry techniques. Skills learned will allow members to give back to the community by making repairs to the Pumpkin House.

The workshop is funded by a $2,500 donation provided by the Monsanto Fund's America's Farmers Grow Communities program on behalf of local farmer Annette Speer. The America's Farmers Grow Communities Program gives farmers the opportunity to win $2,500 for their favorite local nonprofit organizations.

Mercer County 4-H staff and members along with Master Carpenter Duane Goderis will be conducting the event June 18 and 25 from 9 a.m. until noon at the Pumpkin House on the Mercer County Fairgrounds.
