The Black Hawk College East Foundation is hosting the first-ever Boot Scootin’ Barn Dance & BBQ to raise money for equine student scholarships.

The Boot Scootin’ Barn Dance & BBQ will be from 5 - 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22 in the Ag Arena at the college’s East Campus, 26230 Black Hawk Road, Galva (five miles south of Kewanee).

This fun-filled evening will include a “REAL Texas barbecue” catered by award-winning Hickory River Smokehouse, line dancing and two-step lessons, tours of the college’s horse stables, and professional photographs with the horses.

There also will be a live and silent auction with premium items such as a travel package for two to the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas and a Billy Cook roping saddle.

To cap off the evening, the Southern Cross Band of Peoria will play country favorites so guests can try out their new dance moves.

Tickets are $100/individual and $150/couple. Tickets are tax-deductible less fair market value of $25 per ticket. Money raised will go to the new Equine Endowed Scholarship Fund to benefit equine students at the college’s East Campus.

Boot Scootin’ Barn Dance & BBQ is sponsored by Peoples National Bank of Kewanee (Diamond Sponsor) and Nutrena (Gold Sponsor).
