Local government seminar
The Mercer County Farm Bureau in conjunction with the Rock Island County Farm Bureau is hosting a Local Government Series. The first seminar in the series will focus on township government. The seminar will be on June 20th at 6:30 p.m. at the Reynolds American Legion, 501 Main St, Reynolds IL 61279. A light supper will be provided.
This Local Government Seminar is going to cover the following topics: an overview of local government, local government financing, local area snap shot/trends, township officials’ authorities and responsibilities, road districts, and the connection between townships and road districts. There will be plenty of time allotted for attendees to ask questions.
The seminar will be presented by Jerry Crabtree, Associate Director for the Township Officials of Illinois, Kevin Rund, Director of Local Government for Illinois Farm Bureau, and Brenda Matherly, Assistant Director of Local Government for Illinois Farm Bureau.
The public is encouraged to attend this event to become informed on how local government works and is funded as well as to become educated on the numerous roles and responsibilities of local government officials. Mercer and Rock Island township officials have been invited to attend this event.
