June 20, 2012 – In an effort to develop comprehensive relationships with industry partners while maintaining strategic objectives, the Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) is pleased to announce its newest executive corporate partner, Monsanto Company.  Monsanto is a leading global provider of technology-based solutions and agricultural products.

The ISA corporate program was established to provide companies ways to work with the state's soybean farmers in such areas as research, education and legislative affairs to help enhance the soybean industry and profitability.  ISA and Monsanto have identified key areas of collaboration that will provide general support for key regulatory issues, as well as grower awareness for weed management solutions.

"We're thrilled to have the opportunity to work closely with Monsanto.  This partnership will allow us to reach more key growers and provide a platform to move forward with in the future," says Matt Hughes, ISA chairman and soybean farmer from Shirley, Ill.

Monsanto and ISA are partnering throughout the year on key events and topics for Illinois soybean farmers. In February, a series of weed management meetings were held throughout the state to help educate and prepare farmers to combat weed resistance. The meetings featured key academia input, farmer panel discussions and information on a range of technology solutions to help with the issue.

"This partnership allows Monsanto to work closely with ISA on important soybean industry issues.  In particular, the meeting series allowed us to discuss weed management solutions with growers and give them the chance to ask questions," says Mindy Whittle, Monsanto soybean industry affairs lead. “Monsanto values the relationship we have with the Illinois Soybean Association, and we’re excited to be a corporate partner.”
