Registration for August 2 and 3 Teaching and Learning with Monarch Butterflies Workshop Due Monday

University of Illinois Extension is hosting a workshop for teachers and non-formal educators on Teaching and Learning with Monarch Butterflies on Thursday and Friday August 2 and 3 at the Quad City Botanical Center, 2525 4th Ave., Rock Island from 8:30 am – 4 pm each day.  Participants will gain knowledge, skills, and materials to raise monarchs in the classroom.  They will receive hands-on instruction from experienced educators, rearing cages, books, posters, DVDs, strategies for butterfly gardens, inquiry-based activities for science, language arts, math, social studies, fine arts, and more.  The cost of the workshop is $109.  There are also 15 CPDUs offered from the Rock Island Regional Office of Education for an additional $20 fee for qualified teachers.  Registration is due July 30.  Contact University of Illinois Extension at (309) 756-9978 or register online at web.extension.illinois.edu/hmrs.
