Sand Statue loses its head

Ohio freelance artist Aaron Costic lightly sprays the second layer of this sand statue in the Aledo Central Park fountain on Friday, June 3, 2011, in preparation of going to the next layer down. Unfortunately, at some point Friday afternoon the head simply fell off.
He will be adding a smaller head to the artwork on Saturday -- with a real cloth bonnet, thanks to Darlene Johnson, Rhubarb Festival organizer. Costic is scheduled to work Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to complete the full artwork.
Additional activities Saturday include an early morning 5K run, a craft show on the courthouse lawn, pony rides, a Cub Scout Rhubarb Derby and many more surprises.
Live music and other entertainment from the park's band shell runs from 10 a.m. through 9 p.m.,
