Art-in-the-Park

On Saturday, September 10th, 2011 the 25th annual Art-in-the-Park art fair will be held at Standish Park Arboretum in downtown Galesburg, IL from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Sponsored by Blick Art Materials and KFM 105.3, Art-in-the-Park is a juried fair of fine arts and selected fine crafts.  All media will be displayed and sold by artists.

Family activities are free to the public and will include face-painting, butterfly tagging, make & take projects and a creative movement workshop.  The workshop will follow a noon performance by the Midwest Dance Group.  OSF St. Mary Medical Center is the sponsor of the 2011’s Emerging Artists Tent featuring works created by local Junior High, Senior High and College students.

Stacy Lotz is the 2011 juror.  Stacy is an associate professor at Monmouth College. Her work has been exhibited throughout the region. She will be handing out awards to artists in several categories as well as selecting the best work from the Emerging Artists area.

This year’s food vendors will be Best Western Homestead Room, Chez Willy’s, Happy Joe’s Pizza, Hy-Vee Kitchen & Catering, Q’s Café, and Vintages Tasting Room.  Musical entertainment for the festival is sponsored by Tompkins State Bank.  Bits and Pieces and The Knox Jazz Combo will be performing.  

Art-in-the-Park provides a delightful summer experience for all ages under the shady trees in Standish Park.
