Carl Sandburg College will showcase faculty and staff artwork during the Faculty-Staff Art Show through Monday, Oct. 31, in the D Building Gallery in the main lobby at the Main Campus in Galesburg. There will be a reception for the artists from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16.

This show features the work of Carl Sandburg College staff and faculty from disciplines other than art. Artists include Betty Amstutz, Margie Clay, Shanon Dickerson, Lee Gabbert, Bill Gaither, Ron Hunt, Susan Sharp, Sherri Sharer, Eric Thatcher, and Fred Visel.

“The reason I decided to give this a try was that I began to discover how many folks around here did make art,” said Lisa Mohr, instructor and coordinator of the art program at Sandburg. “It just seemed that there was too much talent not to showcase. I hope to run this show again in another two years and get a larger turnout. I believe this will draw in people from many different disciplines for the opening.”

This is the first year that there will be a separate show for all faculty and staff. In 2006, Mohr created a biennial art faculty show for faculty members with a master of fine arts degree. There will be a separate art faculty show this winter.
