The Galesburg Civic Art Center is pleased to announce the Grand Opening of the Blick Gallery on Friday, Nov. 4.  The Blick Gallery is located at the rear of the Galesburg Civic Art Center’s One12 Gift Shop at 112 East Main and is the last phase of the recent renovation project.  The first exhibition in this new space will feature the photography of Norm Winick. Mr. Winick’s photography was known to local Galesburg residents as it appeared in his weekly newspaper, The Zephyr.   The exhibition will feature journalistic work as well as artistic photography.  There will be an opening reception on Friday, Nov. 4 from 6-8pm.  The reception is free and open to the public.

The Blick Gallery is named in honor of Blick Art Materials’ generous and continuous support of the Galesburg Civic Art Center.  The gallery is designed to be a less formal space than the main gallery with a more open schedule.  This will allow artists the ability to show current work without a long wait for the main gallery.  It will also allow the Art Center to take advantage of unique opportunities such as in the case of the Winick exhibition.  Mr. Winick passed away last December and the exhibition serves as a tribute to his long standing photographic career.

The Winick Exhibition and all other programs of the Art Center are partially funded by the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency. The Galesburg Civic Art Center is located at 114 E. Main St. in Galesburg.  Art Center hours are Tuesday through Friday 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  For more information please contact the Art Center at (309) 342-7415, or visit our web site at  .
