Residents, family members and activity staff are working hard to finish up special Christmas and other homemade craft items for Mercer County Nursing Home's annual "Treasures from the Heart" Craft Bazaar and Bake Sale that will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008 from 9 a.m. until noon at the nursing home, 309 N. W. 9th Ave., Aledo. This much anticipated event will be held in the activity room and is free and open to the public.

Chances on a Swedish weaved afghan are being sold now for $1 per chance. This beautiful throw was designed, made and donated by resident Helen Wagner. It is on display in the activity room and the winner will be announced at noon on Dec. 1. A quilt that was created with by the Mercer County Quilter's Guild and was hand tied by last year's fifth grade class is also being raffled.

Other door prizes, homemade baked items and candies will also be featured at the bazaar. Proceeds will be used to upgrade the sound system for the activity room. For more information contact Virginia Tarr, activity director at (309) 582-5361. Those planning to stop by the bazaar during the Holly Day's celebrations will find ample parking in the rear of building, located next to the Health Department and Medical Associates Clinics.
