Money to aid food pantry

The Times Record will be collecting money for the Churches of Mercer County Food Pantry during the month of December during its first-ever Christmas Fund Drive. Employees of The Times Record chose the Food Pantry to be the recipient of the fund drive because the food pantry is open to individuals and families from around Mercer County.

"It's something I should have done years ago," said Times Record Editor Robert Blackford. "We did something similar to it while I was the editor in Monmouth called the Jingle Bells fund."

Pastor Daren Dietmeier, president of the board of directors for the food pantry said, "We set a record last month with the number of families that went to the pantry. We saw more than 200 families."

The Christmas Fund Drive will run until the end of 2008.

Anyone who wishes to make a cash donation to the pantry can drop off the donation at The Times Record during business hours.

Each edition of The Times Record will list the donors and their donation to the pantry during the month of December in the column on the front page under News Briefs.

Individuals who wish to give donations anonymously may do so as well and those donations will be listed as well and attributed to anonymous.
