Tyson Foods delivers 28,000 pounds of protein to RiverBend Foodbank

Tyson Foods is donating more than 28,000 pounds of protein to the River Bend Foodbank in honor of the Company's celebration of its 10th anniversary of hunger relief. The delivery will take place Friday, Oct. 1 at 10 a.m. at the River Bend Foodbank at 309 12th St. Moline, Ill.

• An estimated 5.7 million people receive emergency food assistance each week, and more than one in every three households experience very low food security, according to the 2010 Hunger in America Report

• River Bend distributed more than 6.3 million pounds of food in its fight against hunger and served over 10,000 people each week. River Bend Foodbank serves over 300 agencies across 22 counties in both Eastern Illinois and Western Iowa.

• For the past 10 years, Tyson has been actively engaged in hunger relief. Since 2000, the company has donated more than 76 million pounds of protein products to more than 950 hunger-relief agencies nationwide.
