The Rock Island County Master Gardener’s Plant Sale is Saturday May 8, 9 am – 2 p.m., Milan.

Get ready for spring planting with great deals on perennials, houseplants, bulbs, hostas and more from the Rock Island County Master Gardeners! Their annual plant sale will be held on Saturday, May 8 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Rock Island County Extension, 321 West 2nd Ave., Milan. Hundreds of plants donated by Master Gardeners will be available for purchase. There will also be a sale of gently used gardening books, seeds, and garden art. In addition, there will also be a “Rock Party” with a beautiful selections of landscape rocks from MarQui that can add the right touch to your garden decor.

At the end of the Plant Sale there will be a drawing for raffle prizes including:  a honey basket; bird bath, gourd birdhouse and butterfly basket, ladies gardening basket, and a large Isabel Bloom Gathering Blooms sculpture. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and can be purchased at the sale or in advance at the Extension office.

All proceeds from the sale  and raffle benefit the Rock Island County Master Gardeners horticulture education programs. Some of the services they provide include the Horticulture Hotline offering guidance on horticulture-related questions; (The Hort Hotline is now open for the season from 9 a.m. – Noon, Mon – Fri at (309) 756-9978 Ext 22) Elementary school outreach; Speaker’s bureau; In-touch adult day care horticulture programs, Nursery School: Lessons in Gardening symposium; Home Horticulture Spring Series; Arrowhead Ranch Horticulture Education; Public garden beautification and more.
