Bill and Joan Martin celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary

Bill and Joan Martin are hosting an open house from 2-4 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 509 NE 2nd St., Aledo, on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008 in celebration of their 65th wedding anniversary. The couple was married in the chapel at Ft. Bliss, Texas on Nov. 6, 1943. They have three children, David Martin of Jacksonville, Fla.; Debra (Steve) Dennison of Galesburg ad Nancy (Curt) McCoy of Salem, Wis. They also have eight grandchildren and three great-great- grandchildren.

Bill was engaged in farming on the home farm near Burgess, between Aledo and Alexis and also worked as an estimator for Dean Frye Construction. Joan worked at home and was a recorder of deeds at the Mercer County Courthouse for around 10 years. “She was a city girl and I was a country boy,” said Bill.

The public is invited to stop by their church to wish them well, from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8.
