Donald and Betty Young celebrate 50th anniversary
Donald and Betty Lou Young of rural Viola are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with an Open House at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Matherville, on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008 from 2-4 p.m. All friends and relatives are invited to attend.
Hosting the event are their children and spouses, Lisa and Joe Dwyer, Geneseo; Cynthia and Doug Bork, Crystal Lake; Joe and Valerie Young, Olathe, Kan.; Liz and John Arter, Donahue, Iowa; Kristen and Dennis Medhurst, Viola; and Paul and Gina Young, Viola. There are 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Donald and Betty Lou were married Nov. 22, 1958 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Matherville with the Rev. C. M. Meyer officiating. Their parents are Lawrence and Henrietta McManus and Robert and Marjorie Young.
The couple are life-long farmers. Although Betty Lou worked part-time off the farm, she has been the official "Go-fer" for the farming operation. Their favorite times are any time spent with their family and traveling to cool places in late summer and warm places in winter, whenever possible.
